Palmerton borough hires animal officer

Palmerton borough has hired an animal control officer.

Phillip Bell, who was hired at last month’s meeting in order to help trap skunks, has been appointed as the borough’s animal control officer at the rate of $375 per month.

“He is versed in that type of activity for wild vermin, domestic animals and so on,” Danielson said.

“He’s got certification from the state for both domestic and wild trapping. He will now be working under the code office, and that will allow our normal code officer to deal with the things they normally deal with, which are typically property maintenance and building safety issues.”
