A Monroe County man was jailed on Sunday for violating a protection from abuse order.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to the Mount Pocono Plaza around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a person violating a protection from abuse order.

On scene the officers spoke with the woman involved and determined there was a violation. Several minutes later, after speaking with her, officers were dispatched to the plaza for a man chasing a woman into the store.

Officers found Daniel Jessie Smith, 25, of 437 Manorview Ave., Mount Pocono, the man involved and the subject of the PFA. He was placed under arrest and transported to the county prison in Snydersville where he is being held for violating the PFA.

Police said he is also facing charges of stalking and harassment.
