Train meet

The Carbon Model Railroad Society is sponsoring its Fall Train Meet on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meet will be held at the Diamond Fire Co. Bingo Hall, 120 Main St., Walnutport. This is a model railroad, toy train and railroadiana sale for the serious and amateur railroad and model train collector. Refreshments will be available. Plenty of free parking. Admission.

Library auction

The Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., will sponsor its popular Handcrafted Items Auction. The auction begins Nov. 3 and lasts until Dec. 8. The library is looking for donations of quality handcrafted items such as knitted or crocheted items, quilted items, jewelry, wooden items, dolls, Christmas items, etc. If you have items to donate, please take them to the library by Nov. 1. Homework Helpers

Homework Helpers for grades 1-8: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4 p.m. at the Palmerton Area Library. Volunteer tutors will help your child with their homework and other assignments. This is free but parents must register each child.

Yoga classes

Yoga classes are offered every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the Palmerton Area Library. Call the teacher at 570-436-1762 for more information or stop in on a Saturday morning.

Bus trip

A bus trip to American Music Theatre’s Christmas Show — Home for the Holidays on Nov. 15, is being sponsored by the Palmerton Hospital Auxiliary. The trip includes lunch at Shady Maple. The bus will leave the Palmerton Coal Bowl at 8 a.m. and return approximately 5:30 p.m. The price includes driver’s tip, a ticket to the 10:30 a.m. show, and a smorgasbord lunch at Shady Maple. Sign up at the Owl’s Nest Gift Shop in the Palmerton Hospital.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served at the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., 259 Lime St. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Breakfast includes French toast, eggs, ham, sausage, mackerel, chipped beef, potatoes, toast, juice, coffee or tea. Call 610-852-2722.

Filling sale

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville is taking orders for its filling sale. Order your potato and bread filling, 2-pound container (container will be frozen), by Nov. 5; pick up Nov. 12 or 19 between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call 610-377-4936 or 610-681-4412 to place your order. This is the same kind of filling you found at the Palmerton Community Festival.

Fall bazaar

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton will hold its fall bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. They will have a Chinese auction, white elephant sale, jewelry, Christmas items, bake sale, handcrafted items and much more. The kitchen will be open.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. They will welcome guest speaker, the Rev. Sharon Harfman, retired minister of PNEC, who helps coordinate the Amigos de Guatemala mission project with Penn Northeast Conference. She will be presenting a slideshow about this mission project.
