Father charged in connection with toddler's accidental shooting

Police have charged the father of a 4-year-old boy who died in an accidental shooting earlier this year.

Ryan Patrick Koch, 21, of Chestnuthill Township, was arrested at his home Tuesday without incident, according to state police.

He is charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children, which are both felonies.

Koch's son, Bently Thomas Koch, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the face on June 18.

Preliminary reports from state police said that the child accidentally shot himself.

Police recently filed charges against Koch after further investigating the incident, and arrested him on Tuesday. He is currently incarcerated at Monroe County Correctional Facility, with bail set at $200,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
