Gathering planned in Slatington on Saturday

Slatington Borough will host the Gathering, a community fundraising event, for the 13th year this Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

The Gathering is an annual community festival organized by the Northern Lehigh Historical Society held along the Slate Heritage Trail at the Trout Run Covered Bridge on Seventh Street and will feature craft vendors, food stands, live entrainment, bonfire and the annual Duck Race at the Covered Bridge.

A basket raffle will be held throughout the day along with a Biergarten at the newly constructed pavilion behind the bridge.

Local band Hydraulic Lime will play at the event from 7 to 9 p.m. before the night closes out with fireworks.

The October Community Festival was first held in 2004 to dedicate the Trout Run Covered Bridge.

Proceeds from The Gathering will be used for the continued construction and maintenance of the Slate Heritage Trail, the Bed Bug Cave Gardens, and other structures along the 3.3-mile length of the trail.
