Tamaqua citations issued

A Tamaqua woman faces extra charges after police found narcotics while taking her into custody on an outstanding warrant.

• Tamaqua police saw Denise E. Latham, 35, of Pine Street at 2:50 a.m. as she was leaving a convenience store. Knowing of two warrants for her arrest, the officers prepared to take her into custody.

They found seven hypodermic needles, a shoelace, nine plastic baggies, a cut straw, a metal file and what she said was “speed” on her and in her bag.

She was transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility on the warrant and faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Mariah Lee Lewis, 24, of Summit Hill, was charged with retail theft after stealing merchandise valued at $11.36 from the Family Dollar Store on Sept. 28.
