Nesquehoning man assaults parents, sister

Moises Flores Jr., 24, of Willow Lane, Nesquehoning, was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning, after he threatened and assaulted family members while intoxicated, borough police said.

He is charged with two counts of simple assault and one count each of recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Police said they were summoned to the family residence at 7:28 p.m. Sept. 27 for what was reported to be a large fight.

Upon arrival, police found Moises’ parents and 8-year-old sister.

The parents said Moises Jr. was intoxicated and began acting aggressive towards the family’s dog inside the home and was holding a large knife in the kitchen.

Police said the parents, their 8-year-old daughter and another son left the home and got into a car in an attempt to leave, but Moises Jr. attempted to get inside the vehicle.

Police said Moises struck the father in the eye during the argument.

When the mother told him she was calling police, he charged her and his sister, causing them to fall. The girl sustained scrapes on her right knee, police said.

After the altercation, Moises fled into the woods behind the home and was apprehended without incident.

He was treated at St. Luke’s Miners Memorial Hospital in Coaldale, for an injury of his right hand and wrist, and then was transported to jail.
