Bomb scare forces evacuation of Schuylkill high school

A bomb scare Monday morning forced the evacuation of a Schuylkill County high school.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Blue Mountain High School in North Manheim Township was evacuated after a written note saying a bomb would go off during the fifth period. The note was found about 10:45-11 a.m. in a bathroom stall of the school.

The school students and staff were immediately evacuated from the building to the nearby football stadium. A check of the school bathrooms, classrooms and other areas was made by troopers and school personnel with negative results.

After the search was completed and it was determined that there was no bomb located within the school the students and staff were allowed to return to the school at 12:15 p.m.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-754-4600 or school officials at 570-449-1004.
