Church Picnic Pet Blessing

St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold its church picnic on Sundayat Memorial Park, beginning with the church service at 10:30 a.m. There will be no Sunday school classes at the church. The children's Sunday school will take place during the worship at a separate pavilion at the park. The church will provide chicken and hot dogs. Each family is asked to bring a bowl or bag of something to share, a cake for the cake walk and a prize for the bingo table. Following lunch, there will be a petting zoo.God's Amazing Animal Kingdom is the theme for the Sunday school for this year. OnOct. 1, all members of the congregation are invited to bring their pets for a special pet blessing beginning at 9 a.m. Following a show and tell of all pets by their owners, Pastor Muhr will offer a special pet blessing. Allthe pets must be on a leash or in cage and enter the church by using either side door.Community DinnerSunday is the next free community dinner. It will be served from 4-6 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The menu will be pork and sauerkraut.
