Writers Group to meet

The Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group will hold its September meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Palmer Branch of the Easton Area Public Library, 1 Weller Place, Palmer Township.

From 10-11 a.m., there will be a regular business meeting. At 11 a.m., Melba Tolliver will present a program titled "You Write, Right?" Attendees are asked to bring samples of their writing and a list of qualities and characteristics that distinguish them as writers.For the afternoon session, 1:30-3 p.m., Melba Tolliver's workshop "… and then I was born" will describe how she uses birth date information in her memoir-in-progress. Tolliver will also talk about how writers of memoir, journalism and fiction have woven world events into their work.Attendees are asked to bring materials related to their birth date, i.e. documents, photos, news headlines, magazine covers, movie promos, etc.The morning program is free and open to the public. The afternoon workshop is free for members and $15 for nonmembers. All attendants must be 18 years or older.Registration is required for the afternoon workshop.
