Pleasant Valley High School graduate Melissa Russo had quite the week for the Gwynedd Mercy University field hockey team.

Russo amassed 18 points on seven goals and four assists and in the process etched her name into the Gwynedd Mercy record books. She also was selected the Commonwealth States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Offensive Player of the Week.In last Wednesday's win over Delaware Valley, she collected three goals and a helper in a 7-0 home victory. She would tally two assists in Saturday's 2-1 win over FDU-Florham. On Sunday at Goucher, Russo became the career points and goals leader in school history as her four goals and assist gave her 73 goals and 174 points in her career, putting her on top of both categories.This year, she has 12 goals and six assists, good for 30 points, which leads all of Division III. The Griffins (6-0) return to action on Tuesday, September 19th at The College of New Jersey.For the second-straight week, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) honored Russo, naming her a Longstreth/NFCHA Division III Weekly Honorable Mention.
