Redball hosts annual rally, swap meet this weekend

The Redball Military Transport Club will be holding its 2017 Annual "Rally and Swap Meet" on Friday and Saturday at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert.

Military vehicles, transport equipment and weapons of all kinds will be on display during the two-day run of their rally. The members of Redball Military Transport collect, restore and show antique military vehicles both for the enjoyment of it and also to remember and honor the members of our Armed Forces, past and present.Their vehicles represent military equipment from 1941 on up to the present day.The organization was established in 1992 and takes its name from the WWII supply route known as "The Redball Express."The Redball Express kept Allied troops resupplied as they fought their way across France in 1944 in their attack aimed at the German homeland. Their actions during WWII were a vital contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany. The military vehicle display and swap meet is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. There will be plenty of free parking for visitors and food and beverages are available inside the fairgrounds.A wide variety of military vehicles from all eras are expected to fill a large section of the parking area outside of the fairgrounds while inside at the swap meet a vast variety of everything military such as helmets, uniforms, radios, vehicle parts, nuts, bolts, lights, manuals, etc. will be available. You name it and odds are you just may find it there in one form or another as there is much to see.Visitors to the show will also have the opportunity to go for a ride in a military vehicle. For additional information on the show, contact Jim Gilmore at 570-325-5216.
