Lehighton state police report on traffic stops

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following traffic stops.

• A 43-year-old driver was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after state police made a traffic stop at 12:51 p.m. Sept. 3 at the intersection of Route 209 and Frable Drive in Chestnuthill Township. Police said the driver was determined to be under the influence and was requested to submit to a blood test.• State police charged a 25-year-old Stroudsburg man with driving under the influence and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 at the intersection of Polk Township and Harrity roads in Polk Township.Police said after the man was stopped, he showed signs of impairment and was charged with DUI. A consent search of his vehicle revealed suspected crack/cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia. Police said the man provided information to them which led to a search warrant of an apartment in Polk Township. The man was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing.• A 23-year-old Mt. Bethel woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after state police made a traffic stop of a vehicle she was driving at 2:12 a.m. June 3 on Route 248 east in Palmerton Borough. Police said the driver committed multiple traffic violations that prompted the stop, after which time police detected a strong odor of alcohol on the woman's breath. Upon further investigation and the administering of field sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest.• State police said a 24-year-old woman from Gilbert is facing drug possession charges after police uncovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Route 209 and Fairgrounds Road in Chestnuthill Township. Police said the woman was initially stopped for traffic violations, after which time a search of her vehicle resulted in the discovery of the contraband.• State police charged an 18-year-old with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after an incident at 7:10 p.m. Sept. 2. The driver was stopped for a traffic violation at the intersection of Route 209 and Horseshoe Drive, Polk Township, after which time it was discovered the driver was driving under the influence and in possession of the drugs. The driver was requested to submit to a blood test.
