Lehighton state police report on traffic stops

Lehighton state police reported on the following traffic stops.

• A 21-year-old driver is facing charges after state police at the Lehighton barracks made a traffic stop at 8:57 p.m. Sept. 3 at the intersection of Pohopoco Drive and Berger Street in Towamensing Township. Police said after the driver was stopped for a traffic violation, it was discovered that the driver was under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance. The driver was requested to submit to a blood test.• State police said they stopped an E250 van for a traffic violation at 9:55 a.m. Sept. 1 at the intersection of Route 209 and Mill Pond Road in Franklin Township and ended up arresting the driver for driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. The driver was requested to submit to a blood test.• Ashley Nicole Frugel, 22, of Effort, is facing charges of driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 1 at 161 Interchange Road, Kresgeville. Police said she was stopped after committing traffic violations, after which time it was determined she was under the influence and in possession of the contraband.• A 24-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop made by state police on Sept. 1 at the intersection of routes 209 and 534 in Polk Township. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing. During the stop, a search of the vehicle resulted in police discovering suspected marijuana.• A 22-year-old driver was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 1:39 p.m. Sept. 2 at the intersection of Route 209 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. State police said the driver was stopped for a traffic violation, after which time it was discovered the driver was driving under the influence and in possession of the drugs. The driver was requested to submit to a blood test.• A 54-year-old Danielsville man will be charged by state police with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop made by a trooper at 6:34 p.m. Sept. 4 in the 100 block of Mountain View Drive, Polk Township. Police said the man was stopped for having committed summary traffic violations, after which time police determined he was driving under the influence. A search of the vehicle resulted in police discovering drugs and drug paraphernalia.
