What I would do with roads

Dear Editor,

Many years ago I had a friend who was with the Department of Transportation in Harrisburg who was talking about retiring.I thought for a moment that I would like to run for office, and particularly, his office. So I sat down and devised a plan.First I would contact the stone quarries, the road oil companies, and then the tire and windshield manufacturers with my plan. If they would support my campaign financially, I could guarantee them a financial return. How so, they would ask. Well, with my influence in that office, I would cancel all paving of highways with smooth asphalt, then convert taxpayer monies and spread heavy oil and chip on all Pennsylvania highways. Without saying, the end results would benefit all my financial supporters in return.Well, the other day I drove west on Route 895 to Andreas, then cut across the hills to Route 443 and returned to Lehighton! "Shucks," I said to myself, "Someone already beat me to it!"Respectfully yours,Richard M. Gross
