Man sent to prison for stealing guns from father

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a state prison term on Tuesday after previously admitting stealing guns from his father, then selling them to support a drug habit.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced Michael Allen Bollilnger, 43, of Lehighton to serve 15 to 60 months in a state correctional institution on one count of theft.He was charged by state police at Lehighton with stealing three guns, two pistols and a shotgun, from the home of his father and selling them at a pawnshop. The incident occurred on Jan. 1.Bollinger admitted to a drug addiction problem which led to his crimes.In addition to the prison term, Nanovic ordered Bollinger to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, attend and complete anger management counseling sessions, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000 and make restitution to his father, Lloyd A. Bollinger Jr., for $900.Although an inmate in the prison since his arrest he received no credit on the prison term as the time spent to date was for probation violations.
