Lehighton Borough Council this week:
• Approved the memorandum of understanding with the Wildlands Conservancy for the proposed Lehigh River Public Access at Dunbar's Beach. The memorandum of understanding will seek funding and complete the work if funded.The Wildlands Conservancy made a proposal in June to improve a section of the Lehigh River in the borough.The agency plans to "inventory the river, access, parking and amenities, in concert with talking to the Fish and Boat Commission to restore some of the damage caused by the zinc factory in Palmerton."• Approved the 90-day waiver for the Frank Kuhn subdivision on the recommendation from the borough's Planning Commission.• Approved a lot line revision for W & W Holdings LP on the recommendation of the borough's Planning Commission.• Approved the lot line revision for Patricia Graham on the recommendation of the borough's Planning Commission.• Approved the MetroTek contract for the 12,470 Volt Upgrade Project on Iron and Bridge streets.• Approved the stormwater management ordinance, to address stormwater management provisions, site plan requirements, operation and maintenance, fees and expenses, prohibitions, enforcement and penalties.• Agreed to advertise for Public Works part-time seasonal laborers.• Agreed to forward three names to the borough's Water Authority for their review.• Appointed Jerry McAward to the borough's Parks & Recreation Board.• Approved the Parks & Recreation Board meeting guidelines and bylaws.• Agreed to re-advertise the Freightliner lift-all bucket unit, and have the borough manager take the best offer available.• Approved the Zombie Zoom 5K Run or Stalk on Oct. 28.• Approved the
L.E.A.F. 5K Walk/Run on Nov. 11.• Approved the third annual Snowflake 5K and 1 Mile Remembrance Walk Dec. 9.• Agreed to close borough hall on Dec. 26.
