Tamaqua police report on investigations

Tamaqua police released information on several recent cases.

• Ray Whah, 19, of Quakake, was cited for retail theft after he tried to steal items from the Dollar General Store on Aug. 21. Whah was caught placing six bandannas and a JL Beef Stick in his pants at 12:10 p.m. The items were valued at $9.• Jessica Lynn Wenrich, 27, of Ashland, and Brandyn Thomas Spece, 27, of Pottsville, were cited after a shoplifting incident at Fegley's Mini Mart on Aug. 14.Wenrich took candy, brownies, cereal bars, a bottle of Aleve and a bottle of Anbesol, totaling $27.98, while Spece took a $1.99 pack of Starburst candy. The items were recovered.Both were cited for retail theft while Wenrich was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found a syringe and a spoon in her purse.• Pedro Grullon Lora, 38, of Tamaqua, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after he took his ex-girlfriend's van without permission on Aug. 19. Grullon Lora was involved in a crash with the 2005 Chrysler Town and Country in the New Ringgold area. When state police checked the registration on the van it came back to a Tamaqua woman. She told police she did not give her ex permission to use the van and agreed to press charges.Charges resulting from the accident, including driving under the influence, will be filed by state police.
