Panther Valley has added a second instructor to its popular JROTC program.

On Thursday, the school board hired Sgt. Robert Shannon as full-time permanent JROTC noncommissioned officer Army Instructor at the Junior Senior High School effective Aug. 28. His salary will be set based on U.S. Army guidelines.More than 100 students at Panther Valley are JROTC cadets.Other businessOn Thursday night, the board also approved:•The resignation of Kelly McCloskey, JSHS math teacher, and Brianna Oswald, a special education teacher, effective the end of the 2016-17 school year. The district will hold both for 60 days or until a replacement is hired.• Louis Paul and John Pitera as bus drivers for the 2017-18 school year.• Anthony Klazas as volunteer football coach.• The Seltzer Group as the district's worker's compensation broker for the 2017-18 school year.• A change of status for Cynthia Levis, JSHS German teacher, from full-time to half-time status effective the start of the 2017-18 school year.
