August 30, 1959 - Lansford clinches the Panther Valley Little League tournament championship as Garry Zonca pitches a one-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over Nesquehoning. Zonca, who gets out of bases-loaded, no-out jam in the third inning by striking out two batters and getting a ground out, also scores the game's only run in the top of the sixth when he singles, moves to second on a passed ball, advances to third on a grounder, and comes home on a pinch-hit single by Ron Mihalko.
