A Nesquehoning driver was charged following a crash in the 300 block of East Center Street. The crash occurred at 7:46 p.m. on April 21.
Police have charged John Montesrin, 38, of West Railroad Street, with vehicle entering or crossing a roadway, required financial responsibility, careless driving and accident involving damage to attended vehicle or property.According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers Richard Neikam and Robert Blisard responded to a reported accident in front of the VFW building. Upon arrival officers determined there were three vehicles involved in the crash.Through an investigation officers determined that a vehicle operated by Montesrin pulled from a parking space and a collision occurred with another vehicle which resulted in a parked vehicle also being struck. After the collision Montesrin left the scene and went into the VFW.While officers were investigating the crash Montesrin came out of the VFW and was questioned by the officers. He said he left the scene because he was upset because of the crash and claimed that the operator of the other moving vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed into him. He said he did not want to get into a fight and went inside the VFW where he admitted to drinking two or three beers quickly.Police said Montesrin submitted to a portable breath test, which resulted in a reading of 0.12 percent. Field sobriety tests were performed which Montesrin passed.He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and taken for a blood test. The test result was 0.09 blood alcohol content. However he was not charged with DUI.Police checked with is insurance carrier, which confirmed he did not have any valid insurance at the time of the incident.
