Weatherly Council

Weatherly Borough Council discussed or acted on the following items at its meeting this week.

• Aug. 24 is the last day of the snack stand. The pool closed Aug. 17.• Borough manager Harold Pudliner reminded residents to trim trees and brush that may be encroaching on roadways.• Mayor Tom Connors said there is a potential sinkhole on Hudsondale Street. Pudliner said that PennDOT is aware and they are attempting to fix it.• Council agreed to reject a draft agreement with Metrocast to rent space on their utility poles. Solicitor James Nanovic said they would work on revising the agreement before it is due in January.• Council approved a minor subdivision plan, paving the way for Weatherly Hillclimb Association to take over a property they use as part of its biannual race event.• Weatherly Basketball Association President Brian O'Donnell thanked council for allowing them to raise the hoops at Eurana Park to regulation height.• A resident asked if there was any progress toward putting up a "children at play" sign along Maple Street, and possibly lower the speed limit near Fairview Avenue. Connors said signs would be ordered, but changing the speed limit would require further discussion.• A dance will be held Aug. 23. About 40-50 children attend the dances. Connors said, "Everybody's enjoying the park, and that's what we like to see."• Council reported that police are investigating the theft of a picnic table from the Weatherly Hillclimb Association. The table was purchased with proceeds from a yard sale held by the borough in the spring.
