Vehicle stop leads to wanted person

A vehicle stop by Pocono Mountain Regional police has led to the arrest of a wanted person.

Police said at 7:26 p.m. on Friday officers stopped a vehicle along Route 940 near Hemlock Drive for a traffic violation. The driver, who was later found to be Marcus T. Bennett, 34, ofLyndwood Avenue, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, said he had no identification on him. Then he provided a false name.Police were able to identify him as Bennett. It was learned that Bennett was wanted by the state parole board for a parole violation. Bennett was taken into custody on the warrant and placed in the county prison in Snydersville.He has been charged with false ID to law enforcement, scattering rubbish, driving while suspended and operation of a vehicle without an inspection sticker, as a result of the vehicle stop.
