August 23, 1978 - Sixteen-year-old Cindy Miller finishes ahead of eight others to retain the ladies golf title at the Mahoning Valley Country Club. Miller, a Tamaqua High School junior, cards a 72-hole total of 350 to claim her third straight championship. Betty Jean Armbruster of Lehighton finishes in second place. Beverly Frankenfield of Allentown is the first flight winner, with Mary Marzano taking second.
