Carbon County man admits to five retail theft counts

A Lehighton man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Tuesday to five retail theft counts.

Trevor Scott Hunsicker, 29, entered the pleas before Judge Joseph J. Matika and was immediately sentenced to a county prison term.Four of the five thefts occurred at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township and the fifth at the Giant Market, also in the township.The thefts of Walmart occurred on Dec. 16, 17, 18 and 22, 2016 and Sept. 14, 2016, at the Giant store.Hunsicker claimed the Walmart thefts occurred while he was homeless and living in his car.Hunsicker is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison facing a probation violation proceeding.Matika sentenced him to serve two to one day less 24 months in prison on all the charges with the terms running concurrently.He was also ordered to make total restitution to Walmart of $708.18 and to Giant, $167, render 50 hours of community service when paroled, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole and to stay out of the two stores.
