Man stopped on warrant ends up in jail

A 27-year-old man from Bowmanstown was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning after he was stopped by state police at the Lehighton barracks because there was an outstanding arrest warrant out for him.

The man, who was not identified by police was stopped at 4 p.m. Aug. 15 on Oak Street in the borough. Police said he was found to be in possession of drugs and related drug paraphernalia. Police also determined him to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance.The man was taken to the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, for a blood test, after which he was transported to the prison. Charges of DUI and drug possession are pending the result of forensic analysis.
