A Schuylkill County man was charged this week for attempted homicide for an incident that occurred Aug. 11.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kenneth Alan Boyer, 51, ofSpruce Street, Port Carbon, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possessing instruments of a crime.Boyer is charged with shooting Alexander Rosario, 22, ofPort Carbon. The incident occurred about 6 p.m.Troopers responded to the Port Carbon address for an altercation between Rosario and Boyer. Troopers said the dispute was verbal at the beginning but then escalated and became physical.At some point Boyer discharged a firearm that struck both Rosario and himself.Rosario was transported by medical helicopter to the Hershey Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound. He was admitted in stable condition, troopers said.Boyer was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for treatment of gunshot wound that was not termed as life-threatening. He was later released.Boyer was arraigned before District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg, who set bail at $250,000.Boyer was unable to post the bail and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.
