Carbon County court - DUI

Nine defendants entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence and related charges on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the pleas from the following:Ricky G. Andrew, 34, of Lansford, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2016, at Pine and Amidon streets by Summit Hill police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Andrew can apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program - house arrest.Robert Kenneth Davis Jr., 54, of Lansford, was arrested on Jan. 15 along Abbott Street by Lansford police. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.Sentencing was deferred because Davis needs a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Jennifer Rae Hurd, 42, of Lititz, Lancaster County, was arrested on Aug. 31, 2015, along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC. She was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program, but was revoked from it for violating conditions.A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Bridgid Kelly Loughney, 25, of Clarks Green, Lackawanna County, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2016, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 940 in East Side Borough. A test revealed 0.27 BAC.She was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in jail, a fine of $750, one-year license suspension, render 25 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use. She was given credit for 30 days spent in an inpatient rehabilitation program and paroled.Michael Bruce McCall, 56, of Nanticoke, Luzerne County, was arrested on April 5, 2016, along Patterson Street by Lansford police. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.David G. Miller, 29, of Weatherly, was arrested on July 12 by Weatherly police along Main Street. He initially refused to stop and a short pursuit occurred before he was taken into custody. He also pleaded to fleeing or attempting to elude police.Sentencing was deferred because he needs a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI charge.Matthew Scott Petko, 41, of Weatherly, was arrested on Feb. 8 along Brenkman Drive in Packer Township by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident on Feb. 26 at the state police barracks in Lehighton. He arrived at the barracks on another matter and was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. A pat-down search resulted in the paraphernalia being found on him.Sentencing was deferred because Petko needs a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI charge.Pedro Francis Rodriguez, 34, of Kingston, Luzerne County, was arrested on June 18, 2016, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred because he needs a drug and alcohol evaluation.Robert Alvan Zimmerman, 49, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on March 24 by Nesquehoning police along Catawissa Street. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Those sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and in DUI case they must follow any recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
