Thursdays from 4:40 to 5:45 p.m. is the time for the weekly West End Mission meal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Gilbert, for those in need.The church's Knights of Columbus will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the hall.Eldred plannersThe Eldred Township Planning Commission is on the calendar for 7 p.m. Thursday.Little LeagueWest End Little League will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville.School boardThe monthly meeting of the Pleasant Valley School Board will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Administrative Office in Brodheadsville.PVEN saleThe Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network is hosting a combination yard and bake sale at its new home to-be at 2334 Route 209, Sciota, across from Frank's Pizza and The Flag Store.The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.Daily operations are still at the church on Greenview and McIlhaney roads at the former St. Luke's UMC church until the move to the new site is feasible.For more information or making a donation for the bake sale, contact the PVEN at 570-992-3136.Proceeds will benefit the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.Seniors lunchThe Chestnuthill Center for Monroe County seniors is Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville. The site is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Fridays. This Friday the menu for the hot meal is steak Diane with grilled onions. To register, bring a photo ID. Those who can are asked to bring their own bags.Safe Driver classThe four-hour AARP Safe Driving class will again be given at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.That refresher course is only for those who have proof of having taken the course in the previous 36 months.There is a fee for each class. Class size is limited so advance reservations must be made. The event, co-sponsored by the Pocono Arts Council and the Pocono Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, celebrates the heritage, beauty and quality of Pennsylvania Crafts.Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, rain or shine. The event will be held rain or shine.Food, beer and mixed drinks will be available but one must be 21 or older to drink. A valid ID is required.
