Woman given time-served sentence for stealing from dad

A Carbon County woman was given a time-served sentence after admitting she stole from her father's bank account.

Marley Cecilia Geusic, 29, of Lansford, pleaded guilty on Tuesday before Judge Joseph J. Matika to one count of forgery as a felony two. She admitted taking money from the bank account of her father, Thomas Geusic, in May. Borough police filed the charges in which she originally faced 10 criminal counts. Nine were dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney's office.Matika, who said the defendant was known to the court for prior criminal activity, need to address a drug addiction problem. He told the defendant that she had to "face these demons" before she kills herself.Geusic said she wants to get into an inpatient rehabilitation program.Matika sentenced her to 106 days to 18 months in prison with credit for 106 days already served. She was also ordered to pay court costs of about $1,000, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, render 50 hours of community service and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
