A Lehigh County man pleaded guilty in Carbon County court on Tuesday to three retail theft charges.

Joshua Jesse Pereira-Lopez, 28, of Allentown, admitted to theft incidents on May 18, 20 and 25, all at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township. Township police arrested Pereira-Lopez on the third theft incident after previously reviewing video surveillance of the first two theft incidents and identifying him as a suspect.In each case Perieira-Lopez and a co-defendant took baby formula.The defendant told Judge Joseph J. Matika that he had lost his job and had two children to provide for. He claimed he stole the items to feed his children.On the first theft count Matika sentenced him to time-served, 75 days to one day less 24 months in prison. On the other two counts he was placed on probation for a total of two years consecutive to the prison term.He was also ordered to make total restitution of $905.92 to Walmart, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation, render a total of 125 hours of community service and stay out of the store.It was noted he has a pending criminal matter in Montgomery County.
