The Lehighton Band will present its third and final summer concert under the stars in the Lehighton Amphitheater park at 8 p.m. Thursday.

The concert is free to the public, but a freewill donation will be accepted. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Clyde Houser Annex Building. The theme of the concert is the Magic Music of Disney. Most of the concert is dedicated to music from Disney movies, television programs and music heard throughout Disney parks.Lehighton Band concerts traditionally open with a march, and Thursday's concert will as well. However, the march will not be a traditional King of Sousa march, but rather the "Mickey Mouse March," which was the opening for the very popular "Mickey Mouse Club."The band will continue with music from the movie and Broadway hit, "Beauty and the Beast."The band's first of three soloists will be Eliza Asmann, who will perform "A Trumpeter's Prayer," which comes from Disneyland's album titled "Tutti's Trumpets."Asmann is a recent graduate of Lehighton Area High School, where she was very active in marching, concert and Jazz Band, as well as being a part of the school's theater group. She is also a member of Zion Opera Workshop. Asmann will further her education this fall at Kutztown University, where she will major in music education. Although she has been a featured soloist at Lehighton Area High School, this is her first solo with the Lehighton Band."Little April Showers" from the Disney classic film "Bambi," will be the band's next selection, which will be followed by the band's second soloist, Chris Short, who will perform a trumpet solo titled "Nexus."Although not a Disney song, it fits with the feel of a Disney-inspired song that has brilliant, intense sections, as well as more serene melodic portions.Short works for Whitetail Disposal in Montgomery County. In addition to playing with the Lehighton Band, he is a member of Zion Opera Workshop's orchestra, Zion's Festival Orchestra, and in the Lehighton Area High School pit band for their musical productions. The band is pleased to present Short as he reprises this solo from the band's 2017 Spring Concert."Disney Around the World" will be the band's next selection and contains several Disney favorites in medley format, ranging from old classics to new Disney songs. The next piece will feature the band's third and final soloist, Casi Short, with the clarinet solo "Clarinet on the Town."Casi Short is an accountant and certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor for EP Caine & Associates CPA LLC. She received a degree in music from Mansfield University, and her accounting certificate from Montgomery County Community College. She is also a graduate of Lehighton Area High School, where she was very active in music, and is a member of Zion Opera Workshop. This is her second solo with the Lehighton Band. The band rounds out the final portion of the concert with music from two of Disney's biggest hits. The stories of Aladdin and Hercules, have been around for many years, but Disney's animated features have made them household names for generations to come. The concert will be rounded out with Karl King's "Melody Shop March."The Lehighton band is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley.
