Lehigh Township in Northampton County ranks as one of the top 100 "safest cities" in Pennsylvania, according to a recent study

The survey, conducted by Safewise.com, was recently published in Pennsylvania Township News magazine.At the Aug. 8 supervisors' meeting Sgt. John Henry, who was on hand to give the police report, was given accolades intended for the entire police force.Safewise created the listings based on 2015 FBI crime reports and population.Taken into account were violent and property crimes.Lehigh Township ranked 94 in the top 100.Of the top 20 municipalities only one reported more than 10 violent crimes.Property crimes per 1,000 people were 90 percent lower than the national average.
