Reported suspicious activity on Willing Street in Tamaqua resulted in charges for a Lansford man on July 28.

Tamaqua Police received a report of suspicious activity in the400 block of Willing Street. Information on two vehicles was given to police, with the caller reporting possible drug activity.One of the vehicles was a black Toyota. Officers found the car in the 300 block of Willing Street, with Alexander Modawar, 54, sitting in the driver's seat. Modawar said he was waiting for a friend who had gone intoa residence on Willing Street and denied any knowledge of why his friend went to the house.The officer noticed a backpack on the passenger side floor, and Modawar gave permission for it to be searched. Inside the bag was a glass pipe commonly used for smoking meth and a scale with residue. Modawar said the bag belonged to his friend.When the friend came back to the car, he denied ownership of the bag.Modawar was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
