Mahoning Township's board of supervisors appointed a replacement supervisor during Wednesday night's meeting.
Vice Chairman John Wieczorek nominated Patricia L. Snyder, who submitted a letter of interest for the vacant seat. Snyder formerly served on the board, and is currently a member of the township's planning commission."She's got some good experience as a supervisor," Wieczorek said.Snyder's term will run until the end of the year.Snyder replaces Brian Reeser, who resigned from his position on July 11 due to scheduling conflicts between his work and the supervisors' meetings.The board approved the hiring of Joelle Mota as a part-time police officer. Mota also works part-time in Summit Hill and Franklin Township.The board also voted in favor of repairs for the township's New Holland 6640 tractor, as well as a roller and paver for roadwork. The tractor's air conditioner will be fixed by Ag Industrial for $500. The roller's starter requires a starter repair, which Powerco in Allentown will handle for a cost falling between $950 and $1,050. Pencor Hydraulic Hose-Fitting in Palmerton will repair the lift cylinders on the paver for $550.
