DUI arrests in Pocono Mountain

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on two driving under the influence arrests made recently by officers, both occurring on Aug. 2.

Police said at 12:42 a.m. along Country Place Drive in Coolbaugh Township, they were investigating a crash when Anthony Armstrong, 19, of Tobyhanna, drove around fire personnel and into the crash scene.While speaking with Armstrong, officers detected the odor of marijuana. Armstrong failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Monroe County DUI Center for a blood test which was positive for marijuana.At 12:59 a.m. police stopped James Ernesto Thompson, 62, of Mount Pocono, along Route 611 in Coolbaugh Township for traffic violations. While speaking with Thompson, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Thompson failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the DUI Center for a blood test. The result showed him over the legal limit of 0.08 BAC. He was also charged with traffic violations.
