At a meeting in the arbitration room of the court house last night, union employees of Berkeley Bags Company Inc., rejected the firm's wage contract offer by a 73-7 vote.

Under the offer, employees now receiving $1.10 per hour would receive $1.15 per hour, plus 5 cents or the choice of an additional holiday. Other employees receiving $1.075, $1.05 and $1 an hour would be increased to $1.15 per hour without the benefit of the additional holiday.The deadline of the current 30-day extension of the contract under which the employees are working is next Monday, Aug. 16.The increase would have taken effect on Sept. 3.
