Carbon County court - DUI

Eight people who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and related charges were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed sentences on the following:Robert Michael Dietrich, 41, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 90 days to two years in prison, pay a fine of $1,500 and had his license suspended for a year. On a summary offense of careless driving he was fined $25 and costs.He was arrested on Feb. 10 along Bertsch Street by Lansford police. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.He will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Aug. 14. He was granted immediate work-release privileges.Shawn Joseph Donovan, 58, of China, Maine, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. On charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana, he was placed on probation for a year on each count, concurrent to each other and the DUI charge.He was arrested on May 28 along First Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was given credit for 51 days spent in prison on the charges and paroled.Robert Joseph Dorward, 48, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve five days in prison followed by five months and 25 days in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (house arrest) with the first 25 days on electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $750 and his license was suspended for one year. On a summary offense he was fined $10 and costs.He was arrested on Dec. 22, 2016, by state police at Lehighton along Strohl Valley Road in Towamensing Township. A test revealed a 0.20 BAC.He will serve the jail sentence as follows: Aug. 8-9, two days; and Aug. 15-17, three days, starting at 9 a.m. each time.William Paul Evans, 58, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $300, one-year license suspension, get a mental health evaluation and render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on Aug. 1, 2015, along Route 248 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.He will serve the jail term as follows: Aug 18-20, two days; Aug. 25-27, two days; and Sept. 1-2, one day, starting at 9 a.m. each time.Zachary Michael Gross, 25, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by five years in the IPP with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring, a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months.He was arrested on Sept. 2, 2016, along Route 248 at Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin the jail term at 11 a.m. Aug. 17 and was granted immediate work-release privileges.Todd Allen Moyer, 49, of Walnutport, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.He was arrested on May 12, 2016, along Fourth Street by Palmerton police. A test revealed a 0.07 BAC.Kimberly Ann Reinart, 41, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension.She was arrested on Jan. 29 along Canal Road by Franklin Township police. A test revealed a 0.28 BAC.She was given credit for 30 days spent in an inpatient rehab program and paroled.Monica Lynn Walck, 29, of Summit Hill, was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in prison, a fine of $1,500 and license suspended for 18 months. On a charge of driving under suspension-DUI related, she was sentenced to serve 90 days in prison and a fine of $1,000. The terms run concurrent to each other and concurrent with a probation violation sentence she is currently serving in the county prison.She was arrested on Nov. 18, 2016, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Pleads guiltyFred James Zangari, 31, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was arrested on July 29, 2016, by Lehighton police.He was sentenced to serve 10 days to one year in jail, a fine of $1,000 and ordered to get a mental health evaluation.He was given credit for 14 days spent in prison on the charge and paroled.
