A LOOK BACK

Busloads of Weatherly area taxpayers arrived at the Carbon County Courthouse in Jim Thorpe this morning to carry their protest of increased tax assessments to the Carbon County Commissioners.

Led by officers of the Weatherly Area Taxpayers Association, the members of the delegation carried small American flags and one man wore a wrap-around sign stating: "Jim Thorpe Today, Harrisburg Tomorrow."The group crowded into the courthouse to meet Commissioners James Walker, chairman, John W. Angst and Albert U. Koch, along with chief county assessor Harland Bossard, protesting increases in tax assessments averaging 30 percent.
