Twp. secretary resigns as part of settlement

West Penn Township has accepted the resignation of its former full-time secretary.

On a 2-1 vote, the township's board of supervisors on Monday approved a settlement agreement with Bobbijean Muffley.Muffley, who resigned, will be paid $10,000 as part of the agreement.Supervisor Tony Prudenti, who cast the sole vote against the move, said he wasn't happy with the agreement.Board Chairman Jim Dean said, "She resigned. That was part of the settlement."In March, supervisors hired Patricia Nothstein as part-time township secretary as needed, at a salary of $10 an hour.She was hired at the time to fill in for Muffley, who went out on disability leave.That came several weeks after the board appointed Herb Wood-ring as a temporary secretary at the rate of $12.75 an hour while Muffley was out.At its reorganization meeting in January, the board approved Muffley as township secretary at a salary of $29,700.Township solicitor Holly Heintzelman declined to comment on the matter.
