Kira Shcherbakova brought her singing ministry service to the residents at the Victorian Manor in Lehighton on Thursday. Shcherbakova sang original songs and covers between telling inspirational stories and jokes.

Shcherbakova, originally from Kiev, Ukraine, has lived in the United States 12 years but has been singing her entire life. She began her ministry four years ago after being asked to sing at a church service while working a computer job."I had been told by other singers and even my friends and family that singing was unrealistic," Shcherbakova said. "The pastor at that church told me the one thing that would make me happy would be to know and love God."She said performing in churches and as a ministry brought her success singing professionally. Shcherbakova performs different mixes of gospel and hymnal music as well as original songs."It depends on where I'm performing if I do more gospel or more hymnal music."Jen DeLong, owner of Victorian Manor, says she tries to get events like this often for the residents."We try to do a couple different activities every month," DeLong said. "We look for different activities for our residents. We have someone who comes once a month to do pet therapy. We have a minister who comes once a month to do a sermon, things like that."I heard Kira last month at People's EC Church and she was phenomenal, I knew my residents would really enjoy her music. Her songs really speak to you."Shcherbakova is the first singer who has come to the Victorian Manor to perform.
