The transportation provider in Palmerton Area School District will remain the same following board action Tuesday night.
By unanimous vote, the district renewed its agreement with Leon A. George II Buses Inc. through the 2020-21 school year.In other action Tuesday, the board:• Hired Josh Gibbs as a part-time flex custodian, effective Aug. 2, at the hourly rate of $13.03.• Approved Thomas Heinick, marching band adviser; Marcia Heinick, assistant marching band adviser; and Chrissy Rehatchek, color guard adviser, for the 2017-18 school year.• Hired Mary Jo King as full-time secretary to the special education director at a salary of $32,474 (prorated), effective Aug. 14.• Accepted the resignation of Marie Vessels, cafeteria worker, effective immediately.• Approved the revised National Honor Society application process.• Approved payments to Penn Builders for $702,667.11 for junior/senior high school campus improvements, $173,898 to Hayden Electric for junior/senior high school campus improvements, $205,570.50 to Midline Mechanical for heating, ventilation and air conditioning improvements, and $139,147.03 to Hayden Electric for heating, ventilation and air conditioning improvements.
