A Carbon County man is facing simple assault and related charges following an incident that occurred around 9 a.m. July 25.

State police at Fern Ridge said a 33-year-old woman and Anthony John Boyle, 37,of 5 Miami Trail, Albrightsville, Penn Forest Township, got into a verbal argument. The argument escalated with Boyle biting the woman's face and then wrapping a belt around her neck. The woman was able to free herself and flee the residence.Troopers said Boyle went to the basement and attempted suicide by hanging. He was transported to the Lehighton hospital for treatment. Charges have been filed.
