Northern Lehigh School District will conduct interviews with the final candidates for superintendent at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 21.

School board President Gary Fedorcha said it will be a "round-robin kind of effect" in which four groups consisting of the community, administrative, teachers, and support staff, will interview the top candidates.Afterward, Fedorcha said the board will interview the candidates and meet with a representative from each of the four groups to get their input.He said a recommendation to hire will then be made at the board's Sept. 11 meeting.Fedorcha said the process is all about "open transparency and communications.""This is definitely a collaborative thing, and we want to make sure the people in the district and the community are comfortable with our choice," Fedorcha said. "This is a very key position as we've always said, but we're looking for this to be a decision that everybody is happy with."The board will still hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14.On June 22, the board named Jack Corby as the district's acting superintendent.Corby, who started July 1, was hired at a daily rate of $525 in the interim capacity due to the retirement of Superintendent Michael Michaels on June 30 after nine years with the district.Corby was previously superintendent in the Whitehall-Coplay School District for more than 11 years before retiring last year, and the director of secondary education for four years before that.His past stops also included Tamaqua Area School District and Palmerton Area School District.
