Carbon County Commissioners approved personnel actions last week:

• Resignations: Charles W. Horvath of Easton, county detective, effective Aug. 1; Emily R. Nerino of Jim Thorpe, summer law clerk, effective July 28; and Tanner A. Zwetolitz of Andreas, part-time automation clerk, effective Aug. 4.• William J. McDonald of Jim Thorpe, hired as a part-time dispatcher trainee for the Communications Center, effective Aug. 2.• Jennifer S. Fritz of Lehighton, changed from clerical specialist, Clerk of Courts to assistant purchasing manager trainee, purchasing, effective Aug. 1.Other actionsThe commissioners also discussed or acted on the following items:• Recognized Carbon Career and Technical Institute students Derbe Stroup, Jakson Ring and Zackary Klotz, as well as SkillsUSA adviser Kevin Kuehner, for their performance at the national SkillsUSA competition in Kentucky in June. Stroup brought home a gold medal in the CNC Turning category; Ring took sixth in CNC Technician competition; and Klotz placed 11th nationally in the Plumbing competition.• Approved the 2017 Emergency Management Performance grant for funding to support the salaries and benefits of the emergency management coordinator and administrative assistant. The estimated revenue is $64,034.91.• Approved the 2017 Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act financial agreement, commencing July 1 through Dec. 31, for employment and training and related administrative services between Carbon County, administrative entity, and Pike County. The maximum payment shall not exceed $250,305.
