Woman is charged with bringing drugs into Monroe County prison

A woman has been charged with bringing drugs into Monroe County Correctional Facility.

The county District Attorney's Office announced charges Friday against Jenny Schleppy, 29, no address provided.Guards at the jail discovered during a strip search early Monday that Schleppy was found in possession of bags believed to contain drugs, according to the DA's office. The suspected drugs are being sent to a state police crime lab to be tested.Schleppy allegedly told a deputy warden that the bags were hers, and that they contained MDMA, bath salts and crystal meth. She initially denied ownership of the drugs, saying that someone had slid them under her cell door.Schleppy was strip searched because she was placed on a "level one watch" for threatening to overdose herself, the DA's office said in a release.Schleppy was also strip searched upon being admitted to the jail. The release said that Schleppy also was in possession of about 50 Xanax pills when she was brought into the prison.State police are expected to file charges in that case. She was brought into the jail Thursday by state police on an outstanding warrant out of Lehigh County.According to court records, Schleppy was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on forgery charges Wednesday before a magisterial district judge in Allentown. She is now locked up at Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
