Authorities shut down Delaware Avenue in Palmerton Saturday morning to move a super load through the community.

A world wide transport company, Edwards Transport used a 48-wheel 120-foot remote controlled trailer to make the move. The unit and the trailer had a combined weight of 680,000 pounds.

The company had to use bridge jumpers to carry the load over a grated bridge in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue.

The load is a power transformer being moved to a site in Little Gap. Fire police from throughout Carbon County assisted in the move.
