Slatington student work deadline August 11

Slatington Youth Works Program provides high school students between the ages of 16-18 who have completed their junior year with employability skills and summer work experience. The focus is students in the Northern Lehigh School District who meet income eligibility requirements. The program begins Aug. 21 and will run through Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Student applications are still being accepted.

This program is developed around a key focus - to help students in the Northern Lehigh School District succeed as they transition from full-time students to full-time employees. The program will provide students with the knowledge they need to enter the workforce as well as provide them with work experiences. Students will receive an hourly wage for their time at the various work sites during the program.Workplace opportunities and experiences will vary per student. The opportunities are pre-arranged with local employers and reflect a variety of opportunities, including retail, non-profit, healthcare, government, community relations and more.Slatington Youth Works Program is a program in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Lehigh Valley Workforce Development Board, funding made available through the Lehigh County block grant.Interested students can obtain an application at the Slatington Public Library or through Alice Wanamaker via email at
