A former police officer from Carbon County has been charged with providing alcohol to a teenager in the Lehigh Valley.
Robert J. Shubeck is also expected to be arrested for violating probation on a previous conviction.Shubeck, 43, was charged in Lehigh County earlier this month after a traffic stop where police found him with an intoxicated 18-year-old man.The man allegedly told police that Shubeck provided him with vodka and Red Bull because they were on a date.Shubeck resigned from the Lansford Police Department in 2014 and pleaded guilty to one count of corruption of minors. The new charges stem from a July 1 incident in Upper Macungie Township. Police responded to the area of Witman Drive and Scenic View Drive because a neighbor noticed an unfamiliar vehicle parked outside her home.An officer approached the tan Hummer H2 and found Shubeck and the 18-year-old inside.Shubeck and the 18-year-old told police they were on a date. The 18-year-old, who police said was known to them, said that he was afraid he was going to jail.Shubeck said he met the 18-year-old online and he brought alcohol along because he "wanted to get laid." He said he knew his passenger was under 21 years old because they were celebrating his 18th birthday. In the 2014 case, Shubeck was accused of stalking and harassing a teenager whom he had allegedly provided with alcohol.Prosecutors dropped several other charges, including furnishing alcohol to minors, in exchange for the guilty plea.Shubeck was ordered to serve three years on probation, pay restitution and not make contact with his victim. He is expected to be taken into custody for a probation violation later this week, according to the Carbon County Office of Adult Probation.Shubeck's probation would have ended Sept. 16.
