Park concert

This Sunday’s concert in the Palmerton Borough Park Bandstand will be presented by Crazy Hearts. The group is sponsored by Pencor Services Inc. The event begins at 7 p.m. and all are invited. Please bring a lawn chair. The bandstand committee of the Concourse Club reserves the right to cancel the concert due to inclement weather.Palmerton poolThe Palmerton Memorial Park Association will be hosting Old Timers Day at the Palmerton pool on Sunday. To rent a pavilion for your group function, call Larry at 610-349-1085.Jerusalem UCC Community PicnicJerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its annual community picnic on Aug. 5. At noon the event will be open and ready for lunch. At 1 p.m. will be free games and kiddie cake walk. At 2 p.m. there will be a special appearance by the Hawks. Music by the Main Street Cruisers will be at 3, 5 and 7:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. will be Trachsville’s legendary cake walk. A raffle ticket drawing will be held at 9 p.m. (need not be present to win).Bring your lawn chairs. Enjoy fellowship with relatives and friends. The rain date is noon Aug. 6.GodspellA musical theater production of “Godspell” will be held in the church grove at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, Aug. 11 and 12 (rain date Aug. 13) and also Aug. 18 and 19 (rain date Aug. 20).Admission is free and begins at 7 p.m. A freewill offering will be collected and refreshments sold to defray costs and raise funds for the church and the American Cancer Society. Some seating is available, but it is recommended you bring a lawn chair. Join in a free viewing of “Back to the Future” on a giant, inflatable screen. Bring along a blanket or chairs to sit on, as well as snacks and drinks to enjoy. All park rules apply, including no pets, smoking or alcohol.The event will be held at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in Palmerton Borough Park. Rain date is Aug. 3.Candy bingoRaising the House will be hosting a Back to School Candy Bingo for Students of the Palmerton School District. It will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Parkside Education Center, 680 Fourth St., Palmerton.All ages are welcome. Students age 10 and under must have adult supervision. Each student will receive a ticket for a free hot dog, bag of chips and drink. Additional refreshments will be available for purchase.To play, you must bring one candy bar/candy item for each card played. There will be a limit of three cards per person.Smith Family ReunionThe 89th annual Smith Family Reunion will be held Sunday at St. Matthew’s UCC Picnic Grove in Kunkletown. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m., the program starts at 1:30 followed by music from Lenny and the Loafers. There will be a cakewalk.
